The Warren Residency Programme

A Different Way Forward for Hospitality

For nearly a decade, The Warren has been known as a place rooted in local food, thoughtful hospitality and a deep belief that restaurants can exist for more than simply making profit.

After years of operating within the pressures of traditional hospitality, The Warren is now entering a new chapter.

Rather than reopening as a conventional full-time restaurant, we are exploring a slower, more sustainable and more collaborative future through chef residencies, pop-ups, seasonal projects and creative food collaborations.

This is an invitation to people who want to do things differently.

What Is The Residency Programme?

The residency programme is designed to give chefs, cooks, bakers and hospitality creatives the opportunity to:

  • test ideas

  • host pop-ups

  • run seasonal residencies

  • develop new concepts

  • build audience

  • create meaningful food experiences

  • work within an established and values-led space

The Warren provides an existing platform, reputation and fully equipped hospitality environment, while residents bring their own identity, energy and ideas.

This is not a traditional employment role.

It is a collaborative and independent model built around shared values, creativity and sustainability.

Who We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in hearing from:

  • chefs wanting to test a new concept

  • supper club operators ready to expand

  • bakers or producers exploring service

  • fire cooks, fermenters and foragers

  • chef and front-of-house partnerships

  • community-focused food projects

  • hospitality people searching for healthier ways of working

Most importantly, we are looking for people who:

  • care deeply about food and hospitality

  • can operate independently

  • communicate clearly and respectfully

  • value sustainability and fairness

  • want to create something meaningful

  • are interested in building healthier hospitality culture

What The Warren Provides

Depending on the residency format, residents may have access to:

  • fully equipped professional kitchen

  • intimate dining and event space

  • established audience and reputation

  • booking infrastructure

  • supplier and producer network

  • promotional support

  • collaboration and mentorship where appropriate

West Wales also offers something increasingly rare:
space to think differently, slower pace, strong community connection and close proximity to extraordinary producers and growers.

What We Believe

We believe:

  • good food should tell the story of the land

  • hospitality should feel human

  • sustainability should be genuine

  • restaurants should not rely on burnout

  • creativity matters more than excess

  • local food systems matter

  • community matters

  • thoughtful hospitality can still thrive

This residency programme is an attempt to explore what hospitality might look like when people’s wellbeing matters as much as the plate itself.

Trial Before Commitment

All residencies begin with smaller collaborations, trial events or short-term projects before any longer-term opportunities are discussed.

We are intentionally developing this slowly and thoughtfully.

The goal is not simply to fill a space, but to create healthy, sustainable and genuinely exciting collaborations for everyone involved.

Long-Term Possibilities

Over time, we hope this programme may help shape:

  • long-term collaborations

  • operational partnerships

  • new hospitality concepts

  • community-rooted food culture

  • cooperative or shared stewardship models

But for now, the focus is simple:
bringing thoughtful people together to create meaningful experiences through food.
