Week two from the community allotment project

Some of you might remember when I first took on The Warren we tried our luck at growing vegetables on our flat roof above the restaurant. This, as so many people said was a BAD IDEA for so many reasons.

As I sit down to write this, the buzz of another Sunday Lunch service lingers in the air. These days, Sundays are a beacon of bustling activity here at The Warren, a testament to the warmth and community we've built together, especially heartening in these uncertain times.

These golden nuggets as I call them are a personal favourite of mine often make an appearance on our menu this time of year. One of my favourite recipes has to be when we bake them in a white sauce as a side dish for our Sunday Lunch.

My tenure at Paradiso was more than just a job; it was a period of immense personal and professional growth. Working alongside the talented team at Paradiso and being influenced by their dedication and creativity has profoundly shaped my vision for The Warren and Cegin Hedyn.

A few stories & snapshots of my journey to volunteer with RCK in Calais.

To this day, we have served over 3000 meals: 158 "Pay What You Can," 460 FREE, 600 Volunteer Meals, and 1950 "Suggested Price" meals.

In an ideal world, a project like Cegin Hedyn wouldn't be necessary – we'd all have unfettered access to the food we need. But we're not in that world. So, I am committed to having Cegin Hedyn fill that gap for as long as my community needs it.

It was just last year that I embarked on a unique journey, venturing into the realm of eco-conscious transportation. I made the bold decision to invest in an e-cargo bike from Tern, with a clear intention in mind: to reduce my reliance on my trusty old car. I figured, why not give it a fair six-month trial period and see where it led me?

As we step into August, we can't help but feel a sense of excitement and gratitude. This month marks a significant milestone for us as we celebrate our 7th Birthday over the upcoming bank holiday period. It's been an incredible journey, and we owe it all to our fantastic patrons like you. Thank you for being a part of our journey!
