Is The Warren for sale?

Yes. It is on the market through BJ Properties in Carmarthen.

If this does not work, and the support is not there for a viable future, I will sell 11 Mansel Street and find a different project.

This is an honest attempt to find out whether there is another way.

Is The Warren definitely reopening?

No, not yet. These pilots are to test the demand, build the team and find out whether it can work. Reopening for good depends on what we learn.

Why will it be different this time?

I am not the man I was ten years ago. I want different things, and I understand myself better than I ever have.

I also have a community and a following in Carmarthen, and a reputation I hope still counts for something in the trade.

Most of all, my brother is helping me with the parts I find hard and he finds interesting.

And the whole approach is built to share the load. The Warren’s future cannot depend on one person carrying every decision.

Why are you doing this?

I put my life into The Warren. It means far too much to let it go without doing everything I can to protect it. So that is what I am going to do.

Where do I park?

The easiest place is St Catherine’s Walk, the multi storey car park on St Catherine Street. It is open all hours and it is about five minutes’ walk from our door.

There is a little parking on Mansel Street itself, but it goes quickly.

Coming by train? Carmarthen station is about fifteen minutes on foot, straight up King Street.

Is The Warren accessible?

We want you here, and we would rather tell you honestly what the building can and cannot do than have you find out on the day.

Wheelchair users can get in easily: the front door has a small lip, not a step, and you can sit in the Front or the Bar. Our toilets are not wheelchair accessible, they are up a few steps with a handrail. Everyone is welcome, so tell us what you need when you book.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome at The Warren in our downstairs bar. The dining area nearer the kitchen is dog-free. If you're booking and bringing a dog, please let us know when you book so we can make sure we give you a suitable table. Assistance dogs are, of course, welcome throughout the customer areas of The Warren.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No. Nobody does, whatever the size of the table.

Everyone leaves a card when they book online, and nothing is charged. You pay for what you order on the day.

Why do you need my card?

Your card holds the table, and nothing is taken when you book.

Cancel more than 2 days before (3 days for a table of 6 or more) and there is nothing to pay. Inside that it is £10 a head, because we have been getting the Warren ready for you. Cancel inside 2 hours of your table (24 hours for 6 or more), or don’t come at all, and it counts as a no-show: £30 a head, because by then the food is prepped and we have turned other people away.

Changed your mind? Cancel within 24 hours of booking and it is free, as long as your table is more than a day away.

Booking with Apple Pay or Google Pay for a table in the next six days? Your bank shows a hold instead of us saving your card, and it is released after your visit.

Why do big tables get a longer notice period?

We shop and cook for the exact number of people who said they were coming. When a big table doesn’t turn up, that’s food bought, staff on the rota and a room we turned other people away from.

So a table of 6 or more can cancel free up to 3 days before, and inside the last 24 hours it counts as a no-show. It is the same £10 and £30 a head as everyone else.

What if my big table needs to cancel?

Use the link in your confirmation email, as early as you can. More than 3 days before there is nothing to pay.

Inside 3 days it is £10 a head. Inside 24 hours of your table, or if you don’t come and don’t tell us, it is £30 a head, taken from the card you booked with. If the number coming changes, ring us and we will sort it.
