Time, money, expertise, encouragement, or coming to our pilots. All of it counts.
We are starting this with our own money and looking for sponsorship from businesses and individuals. In return we can offer marketing, advertising, food, drink, and a part in the story.
Packages to suit a range of budgets, whoever you are.
Much of this depends on people giving us their time. Preparing the building, a shift behind the bar, baking bread, helping at an event, or lending professional expertise.
We do not expect anyone to volunteer forever. The goal is that everyone in the core team is properly paid.
This does not work without people who care about the same things and bring different skills. We will take the time to get that team right.
Anyone interested would work with the project on a trial basis first, so everyone can see how they work together before anything is formalised.
We are especially interested in finance, governance, hospitality, community development, fundraising, HR, property, marketing and food.
A pledge is not sponsorship, and it is not money now.
It is a conditional commitment: if we form the organisation and reach the goals we set, you would support it. That might be:
This is not an investment. It offers no ownership, no shares, no financial return and no membership of anything. It is an indication that you would like to help, so we can count. Nothing is owed and no money moves. If the organisation is ever formed, we come back and ask you properly, and you are free to say no.
The pledge form opens once the community company legally exists. Until then there is nothing to pledge to, and a button that took your details for an organisation that has not been formed would be the first dishonest thing on this site. Tell us by email in the meantime and we will count you.
We will be running events soon, with sliding-scale prices so the money is not what decides who comes.

Both take money, and this site does not take money for anything yet. The copy is Deri’s and it stands. The buttons wait for the accountant.
£25 for a copy of the book and an invitation to the launch. At 500 pledges it gets written, and that is a promise.
It tells the story of The Warren and collects the recipes: the classics from the menus, recipes from friends and suppliers, and what nine years in one room teaches you. Deri went to Tŷ Newydd, the National Writing Centre of Wales, to learn how to do it properly.
Taking £25 now for a book that gets written at 500 pledges is a pre-order, with delivery obligations and refund rights attached. It opens when those terms are written down plainly, so nobody is paying into something they cannot see the shape of.
