The storyCoaltown Coffee Roasters

Our relationship with The Warren goes back to the early days of Coaltown. Long before our roastery was up and running, Deri was already buying coffee from Scott, taking it to farmers’ markets and events with his catering business. Years later, that same relationship continues through The Warren, where our coffee is served today. For us, partnerships like this are about more than great coffee. They’re about people, place and the businesses that help shape their communities.

Ammanford, our hometown in South West Wales, was built on anthracite coal, ‘Black Gold’ that once fuelled lives and livelihoods. When the last colliery closed in 2003, Ammanford lost its sense of purpose.

We set out to reignite that pride by creating a new kind of Black Gold: coffee. In 2018, the machines began to hum once more, not in the mines, but in our Roastery.

The Warren is part of that story. Another independent Welsh business, rooted in its community and built with the same belief in good people, good produce and doing things properly. We’re proud to have been part of The Warren’s journey and even prouder to see Coaltown coffee being enjoyed just down the road from where it’s roasted.
