Sous les Cailloux des Grillons 2024
125ml £10
How it is made
- A blend of every red variety on the estate, from their youngest vines.
- Eight days on the skins.
- Aged in tank only, to keep the fruit bright.
Fresh and frank: red fruit, an easy flow and a touch of tannin.
Tasting notes
The name is the vineyard: the soil in Saint-Jean is nothing but white gravel, and crickets (grillons) shelter from the Mediterranean sun under the stones (cailloux), coming out to play at night.
The makers pour it with grilled meat, Italian food and anything with tomato. At the Warren, try it with venison, lamb or pork.
From the makers’ notes, in our words.
